Nikitskiy botanical garden

The Botanical Gardens of the Taurida National University named after V. I. Vernadsky

The Botanical Gardens are based on the park-monument of landscape architecture “Salgirka” and is a united historical and natural complex which includes country estates of the academician P. S. Pallas and count M. S. Vorontsov.

It is based on the “Salgirka” park-monument of landscape architecture in 2004. The territory of the Botanical Gardens is a common historical natural complex involving country estates of the academician P. S. Pallas and count M. S. Vorontsov. Its collection funds have more than 1,500 taxons of ornamental woody-shrubby and herbaceous plants, including rare, extinct and relic ones.

Cedar-cherry, nut, chestnut, catalpa, thuja and other alleys and paths are a real decoration of the gardens. During the gardens lifetime several special exhibitions were organized in the gardens: rose-garden (rosarium), ornamental shrubbery exhibition (syringarium), the small exhibition of ornamental perennial plants (iridarium), the big exhibition of flower-ornamental plants (Big Glade) and others.

This Botanical Gardens are a scientific and educational branch of the university. Biological and geographical faculties of TNU (Taurida National University) and other educational institutions of the Crimea practice and train in the Botanical Gardens. The inhabitants and guests of the Crimea can have a tour of the Botanical Gardens. Classical music concerts are common on the territory of the gardens.
